1) Your income tax return can be used for your downpayment on a home! And if it's $1,600 dollars or more, it may be all you need to get into your new home! If you want to do this, we recommend getting your tax return directly deposited into a bank account. This makes it easy for the bank providing your home loan to see that you have that money saved. 2) Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley, our parent organization, offers free income tax preparation for households making less than $50,000 dollars a year. You can meet with a volunteer tax preparer at numerous locations. There are sites in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Trexlertown, and Pen Argyl.
